Hailey's Birthday Dinner

Hailey's birthday was on a Monday this year.  We weren't sure exactly what Marcus's schedule would end up being like on Monday, and decided we should take her out Saturday for a birthday dinner and then we could just do a small family party on Monday.  We told Hailey a week or so before that we were taking her out for her birthday and that she could choose to go anywhere.  She immidiately yelled McDonalds!  When we face timed her Grandma Jacque later in the week and I told her that, Grandma wasn't OK with that choice.  She told Hailey to ask to go to the Ritz.  To which Hailey said, "OK, yeah!"  I wasn't sure the Ritz was the appropriate choice for a six year olds birthday so I said, or an American restaurant because they all give out balloons.  Hailey quickly decided that getting a balloon was the priority.  TGIFridays, Hardrock, Foster's Hollywood, and Tony Romas are the main American restaurants in Madrid, and Hailey decided TGIFriday's would be the best, but as luck would have it that night was our ward talent show.  Hailey did a ballet dance, and Avery danced with her nursery.  (It was all super cute!)  The show started about an hour late (seriously everything at our church is at least an hour late) and so we didn't end up leaving until 8 p.m.  There was a Real Madrid game at 8:00 that night.  Meaning TGIFridays would be packed with people watching the Real game.  So Hailey had to settle on her third choice...Tony Romas.

We really weren't expecting much of anything besides a nice family dinner.  As we ate we told some of our favorite stories about Hailey.  It was really fun, and sweet to remember back to when this little girl was just a baby.  As the meal was winding down Marcus thought He'd just ask and see if they'd sing to her or do anything for her birthday.  They told us that they would sing happy birthday.  That's all we were expecting.  They ended up coming out with four balloons, a candle that they lit in her desert, a Tony Roma's cowgirl hat, and then they had her stand up while we all sang.  It was really cute, and Hailey was beyond thrilled.  Such a fun way to spend the evening.
