It took 2 subways and an hour long train ride to get there, but it was well worth it. It's definitely something we'll do again soon!

Memorial Day at Long Beach
Sometimes I forget that New York is on the ocean, and thus we have beaches nearby. Luckily some friends of ours from our ward invited us to go to Long Beach on Long Island with them on Monday. We had such a great time. This was our girls first real trip to the beach. THEY LOVED IT! We definitely need to live by a beach in the future, because these two couldn't get enough of it. Avery was a big fan of the sand and didn't mind the water. She consumed quite a bit of sand too. Her little hands were covered with it and we ate Five Guys on the beach for lunch. She wouldn't let anyone else feed her. She didn't seem to mind the ridiculous amount of sand she was getting in her mouth as she ate. So after a bit of a fight we letter her go at it. Hailey loved going out in the water with Marc or I and holding our hands while she got rocked by waves. She kept wanting to go deeper and deeper. When she was by herself she was much more timid. She loved the sand too. Marcus and I had a great time and found out after we got home that our skin doesn't tan quite as well as it did in our past. We put on sunscreen (Marc was a little more diligent than me) but still got some pretty bad burns. I think this experience officially made me realize that I'm not the tan girl I used to be. Sunscreen is going to be my best friend from now on, because sunburns hurt!!! Anyway it was a ton of fun. Definitely something we'll be doing again!

On an unrelated note for Mother's Day Marc got us tickets to see Evita. It was so good! It was my favorite so far of the shows we've seen. (Then again I'm a huge Evita fan, so that's not really a big surprise). Ricky Martin played Che and he was SO GOOD! The Argentine woman who played Evita was OK. A little too thick of an accent and not the most beautiful sounding voice at all times, but she acted the part really well, and Ricky again was amazing. It was such a fun night! So after being sick and miserable for a while we made up for it this weekend.
