Shortly after moving to New York we fell in love with Neopolitin pizza. We knew that if we were going to take a trip to Italy we had to make a stop in Naples to try the real thing. We got on a train in the morning around 9, and got back in Rome at about 9 that night. In that time we managed to eat six neopolitan pizzas at 3 different restaurants, and do some light sight seeing in between. It was a super fun way to spend a day.
Naples on the whole feels a little run down. All the buildings look like they need a paint job. It's supposedly known as the area the mafia live in, and you definitely get an uneasy feeling that you could be robbed at any time there, but we made it out with all of our belongings and some great memories!
One of the coolest sites in Naples is their Natural history museum. It has tons of ruins from the ancient city of Pompeii. It was amazing to see all of this stuff so well preserved.
We really enjoyed walking the streets and getting a feel for the city. We even walked through an old castle. The history here is again amazing, but we never forgot the main focus of our trip which was of course to consume large amounts of pizza. Mission accomplished.
We were unable to finish our last pizza there, but we wouldn't dream of wasting one, so we brought it back to Rome, and these guys enjoyed a little breakfast pizza the next morning. ;)
